I’ve spent most of it reflecting, listening to Dolly’s music and thinking about just how deeply her presence has been woven into my life and my family’s history. Dolly was a huge part of my upbringing. Her songs were never simply music playing in the background,they became part of our memories. They were connected to my parents, my grandparents, wedding songs, anniversary songs and moments that have been carried through generations. Hearing her voice takes me back to people, places and feelings that helped shape who I am today. Her loss has affected me more deeply than I can easily explain. Dolly inspired me through her music, her strength, her humour, her compassion and the incredible amount of light she gave to others. She showed the world that you could be glamorous and powerful while still being kind, generous and completely true to yourself. That message stayed with me!
